Starting Out

So here I am again. I feel like I’ve been here before; starting a blog and promising myself I’ll write well and often. Let’s hope I live up to it this time.

The redesign you’re looking at is fairly fresh and was born of the necessity to look for a job, so while I was redoing things, I decided I also wanted a place where I could jot down thoughts that wouldn’t fit in a tweet’s length. The last design didn’t have a blog, and I was ga ga over JavaScript animation at the time—something I quickly got over, but my site wore the wounds. That design was good enough for a couple of years, but lately I’ve been thinking I should generally create more, if for no other reason than to flex my atrophied writing muscles that have deteriorated since my heyday as an art history major in college. The other major reason for the redesign is something I learned the hard way: make sure to always have a “Plan B”.

I met a lot of wonderfully supportive people from the mobile industry at Design For Mobile and received some good advice from one of them: it’s important to develop your own personal brand. So in the tradition of knowledge-sharing and shameless self-promotion, I will be posting on here from time to time, and I’m really looking forward to contributing back to the Internet at large, no longer just being a consumer. After all, it’s the place that allowed me to jump from job to job and helped me become the nerd I am today. I’ll be posting on topics that include but aren’t limited to the mobile industry, front-end development, and anything else I find interesting. If that sounds at all interesting to you, subscribe to my feed and we’ll start out together.
